Selling a house in Florida? Here’s a look at top real estate firms

In Florida, there’s no shortage of real estate agents.
In fact, the state has more of them than any other in the nation.
That’s according to the National Association of Realtors. The association’s last report from early 2024 showed more than 220,000 real estate agents in Florida as members (giving them the official title of Realtor, in exchange for joining and following the trade group’s Code of Ethics).
For perspective, California came in second, with about 195,000 members.
There are thousands of licensed real estate companies in Florida. So the competition is fierce. With so many agents and companies in the state, choosing the right one can be daunting.
USA TODAY, the USA TODAY Network Florida and market research firm Statista collaborated to create their first-ever list of Florida’s 500 top-performing real estate offices in the searchable list below. “Florida’s Best Real Estate Agencies 2024” appear in alphabetical, not ranked order. The partnership also produced a list of Tennessee’s top 300 real estate offices.
The lists are based on Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data, with a focus on these key areas:
It’s no easy feat. In Florida alone, Statista analyst Claudia Ene explained, more than 40,000 unique IDs went into the analysis, for every residential real estate office in the state registered in an MLS system.
Putting a finger on the number of companies included in the analysis is a bit difficult, she said, since “a lot of offices belong to the same companies.” Think big, well-known companies like RE/MAX, Coldwell Banker, Keller Williams and Berkshire Hathaway, which appear on the list multiple times.
The winners can be searched by county and city. The list includes several large home builders with their own sales offices for their own developments, such as Lennar and D.R. Horton.
By county, Broward has the most winners (51), followed closely by Hillsborough (50).
Why choose Florida for such a list? It’s one of the fastest-growing states in the country. Its population crossed the 23 million mark this year with so many people moving in from other states.
Those high Realtor counts don’t include the many agents who aren’t NAR members, so there’s more to those numbers.
When agents join their local associations, they automatically become members of the state and national Realtor associations.
In Florida, there are more than 50 local Realtor associations, or boards, from Key West to Jacksonville. Miami’s ranks as the largest in the country, with more than 56,000 members.
Florida’s popularity grew even more after the COVID-19 pandemic when remote work became more of the norm, making it easier to work and live anywhere.
Overall, the Florida housing market remains strong.
The latest housing statistics show single-family sales holding pretty steady over the year (through August).
The good news for buyers? Inventory continues to grow for all types of housing, which should “keep prices from further increases of any significance for the time being,” said Brad O’Connor, chief economist for Florida Realtors, the state’s Realtor association and voice for real estate, in a recent update.
The statewide median sales price for single-family existing homes in August was $411,638, down slightly from a year ago. The median is the point at which half of the homes sell for more and half for less. 
According to the National Association of Realtors, the real estate industry accounted for $381.4 billion, or 24.1% of the state’s gross product in 2023. The total economic impact of a typical Florida home sale is $123,000.
In the state, more than 456,000 residential properties have changed hands over the past year.
